Always one to love creating to a challenge!
Tickle the Imagination mag put out a call to create a pin cushion that referenced 'winter blues'.
I love nothing more than being tucked up in my studio when its raining outside and I cant get into the garden- so I thought I would have a play.
So first I created a silk screen of a line drawing of cloud shapes, then a little porcelain pinch pot was made and clouds and rain were printed on the surface, twice through the kiln it travelled, then a piece of calico was screen printed with the clouds and gathered up to be inserted in the bowl. A sweet little pin cushion has joined my sewing table.
Its creation has bought on the rain!! Yay a day in the studio tomorrow is planned. Im having a big clean up to be ready for my photo shoot this Friday- great images are in the plans for the website soon 😊👏
Its been 2 long weeks since I have had a monent to get into the studio. Finally today I had 3 quiet hours to play.
Soon myself and a lovely lady will be doing a joint 2 x session workshop- 1st session with me, with us all making porcelain pendants, 2nd session with Roz who will show us how to crochet a feature 'window' in them. I made a few samples today so we will have a few to show that are completed.
I am also making some stoneware storage boxes with exciting textured surfaces. They could be used for coffee or tea in the kitchen, jewllery or in the bathroom for make up etc. these have just dried ready for the bisque firing, but I'm really excited about the final glaze firing! Very rustic.
A few pinch pots drying and one ready with its tissue transfers on. Should have a kiln filled tomorrow to move through the process- yippee.
I am a certified creative addict- having played with arty methods constantly since childhood. Now I work mostly in clay, painting and textiles - always designing and making new objects.
